After a whole day of specimen gathering, tissue banking, autopsies and surgical specimen examinations, I like to head home and relax with my family. It’s always great way of catching up with them after a hard day’s work, and sometimes I have to help the kids do their homework since my wife is a truck driver which means she is often away from us.
She has always loved driving trucks and after our last born son joined pre-school, she decided to join a nearby truck driving school so that she could learn about truck driving. I helped pay for her truck driving school fees which of course was not cheap but since I had promised her that I had to keep my word. It did not take long for her to finish her course and she got a job immediately she was done with the training. She gets a decent salary from truck driving, but the downside of it is that she is rarely home. This means I have to take care of the children and family time is especially important for me. I ensure I enjoy each moment spent with my family. When I am done helping the children do their homework, I like to do some exercises to help me keep fit.
Exercise is a great way of lowering stress levels in the body. As you exercise, you are able to focus on what you are doing with your body helping your mind loosen up from any other worries. Intense exercises will also trigger the production of endorphins in your body which make you feel happier and relaxed. I often jog in a park that is near home then finish up with some indoor exercises.
This is also great way I relax when I get home. Yoga movements’ use poses and stretches to improve concentration, relaxation and flexibility. I use a DVD my wife bought for me from one of her travels.
Sometimes I am usually craving a relaxing massage on my body. A gentle massage can work wonders on a body because it helps in untying the knotted muscles and relaxes you all over. Although professional massages are expensive, I get to enjoy this anytime I wish because my employer caters for it.
I enjoy writing and when I have a rough day, I sometimes write just to let loose any stress that is within me. It’s usually a great way for me to vent out my stress. I normally write what is happening to me and just how I feel about it. By writing down my feelings, I find that I feel less stressed.
Catching up with friends
Sometimes I walk to a nearby bar and catch up with my boys. We talk about everything and nothing as we unwind sipping on our favorite drinks. We laugh and really enjoy each other’s companies till very late in the night when we head to our homes.
